These very gentle modalities are based on the work of brilliant osteopathic physicians. This work typically looks like a patient lying on the table and practitioner using gentle touch. This is clothes-on work and very quiet. The precision and pacing makes deep healing possible.
Some of the work is quite slow and still, sometimes finding moments of pause. The inner experience can feel quite blissful. The stillness shifts into an awareness of the inner working of the body. Deeply held places melt. Pain is replaced by a sense of peace and spaciousness. The increase in harmony in the body brings a calm yet invigorated feeling. Both cranial and visceral work are delicate, subtle approaches that create dramatic improvements. Chronic and acute pain can be lowered quickly and non-invasively. Often a deep feeling of peace emerges.
While I am working, I am accessing a detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as following my intuition to where the next healing can occur. This work is very scientific and yet, gentle and artistic. Part of it’s power is that the safe, gentle approach encourages the body to explore and find shifts that would be too stressful without the support.
Craniosacral and visceral manipulation are very appropriate for head injuries and irritation of the internal organs. They are also an asset in relieving muscle pain and postural and movement challenges. The reality is everything in our body affects everything else. Cranial and visceral work allow me to help where other approaches are blocked.
